Loring Hospital in Sac City is set to host a Chamber Coffee event on April 9 at 9:30 a.m. to welcome orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Prashanth Anand, to its team of outpatient specialty providers. Dr. Anand, who is a physician of CNOS, PC, and works at UnityPoint Health in Fort Dodge, sees patients at Loring Hospital on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

“I grew up in a family of doctors and in a small community, so the virtues of the medical profession and the impact it has on people inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare,” says Dr. Anand. “One of the best aspects of working in a rural healthcare setting is being able to provide patients with full orthopedic care without the need for them to travel far from their residence to receive that level of care.”

Dr. Anand specializes in general orthopedic trauma, sports medicine, foot and ankle surgery, joint replacement and primary arthroplasty of knee, hip and shoulder. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery (ABCOS). He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of American Academy of Neurological and Orthopedic Surgeons (FAANOS).

“I am passionate about orthopedics because of the great impact it has on patients’ quality of life,” says Dr. Anand. “Orthopedic care allows individuals to return to daily activities, regain independence, and improve their mental well-being – that is why I practice medicine. I enjoy being able to play a part in helping patients overcome chronic pain or injury and get back to normal life.”

Beginning his practice in Illinois in 2012, Dr. Anand believes firmly in evidence-based medicine and provides honest professional opinions informed by his vast experience and commitment to a thorough approach to evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.

“I believe honesty and empathy leads to good patient outcomes,” says Dr. Anand. “I am driven by the opportunity to help patients return to their daily activities and passions, and I look forward to meeting more patients and their families in the Sac City and surrounding communities.”

Dr. Anand values ongoing education and remains connected to his professional organizations and peers by serving as an active reviewer for a number of orthopedic journals. As a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, Dr. Anand remains in touch with current best practices and actively utilizes these resources to serve his patients.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Anand on the Loring Hospital specialty team of providers,” adds Matt Johnson, chief executive officer at Loring Hospital. “We know how important it is for our community to have convenient access to quality health care, and orthopedics is an essential health service that will continue to benefit many of our patients.”

Dr. Anand is married, has two children, loves to travel, and plays tennis and cricket.
